Who We Are
Empowering Jamaican youth through education, opportunity, and support.
The Haughton Scholarship Fund is a Jamaica-focused initiative created to support students who are committed to their education but face financial challenges. Founded by Jamaicans who believe education is a powerful pathway to success, the Fund exists to give back by investing in the potential of our youth.
We believe that opportunity should not be determined by circumstance. Through fair, transparent, and compassionate support, we help students continue their education and move forward with confidence.
Sasha Haughton Founder
Sasha Haughton is a graduate of Ardenne High School in Jamaica. After completing high school, she migrated to the United States to pursue higher education at the University of South Florida, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. She later obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work from Arizona State University.
Sasha is a strong believer in education as a pathway to opportunity and empowerment. Our Approach
We Facilitate Access to Education
At the Haughton Scholarship Fund, our approach is rooted in a simple belief: students who are committed to their education should not be held back by financial circumstances. We focus on supporting students at critical stages of their academic journey, particularly those transitioning from primary to secondary school and those currently enrolled in high school.
By reducing financial barriers, we help students remain focused on learning, attend school consistently, and move forward with confidence.
Our Mission
The Haughton Scholarship Fund is dedicated to supporting high school students in Jamaica who demonstrate commitment to their education but face financial challenges. Founded by Jamaicans who believe education is a key pathway to success, the fund exists to give back to our country by investing in the potential of its youth.
Our Vision
We envision a Jamaica where motivated students are not held back by financial barriers and are empowered through education to contribute positively to their communities and nation.
Values
Education as Empowerment
We believe education is more than academic achievement, it is a tool for confidence, independence, and opportunity. When students are supported in their learning, they gain the ability to shape their own futures and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Giving Back to Jamaica
The Haughton Scholarship Fund was created out of a deep sense of responsibility to give back to Jamaica. By investing in our youth, we honor the belief that strengthening education today helps build a stronger, more resilient nation tomorrow.
Fairness and Transparency
We are committed to operating with integrity at every stage of our work. Applications are reviewed carefully and confidentially, decisions are guided by clear criteria, and funds are used responsibly to ensure trust with students, families, schools, and supporters.
Supporting Effort, Not Just High Grades
While academic performance matters, we recognize that grades alone do not tell the full story.
We value commitment, perseverance, and consistent effort, especially in the face of financial or personal challenges. Students who are trying deserve to be seen and supported.
