Instructions for Teachers, Counselors, and Referees
Thank you for supporting a student applying to the Haughton Scholarship Fund. Your recommendation plays an important role in helping us identify students who are committed to their education and would benefit from financial support.
This form is intended for teachers, guidance counselors, mentors, principals, or school administrators who are submitting a recommendation for a student.
Student Eligibility Overview
Students being recommended should be enrolled in a recognized
Jamaican primary or secondary school.
They should be transitioning to secondary education or currently
attending high school.
Students must demonstrate financial need and show commitment
to their education through consistent effort and conduct.
Your Role as a Referee
As a referee, you are asked to provide honest insight into the
student’s character and commitment to education.
Supporting evidence of financial need should be included, based
on your knowledge of the student’s circumstances.
You are also asked to verify the student’s enrollment, attendance,
and conduct to the best of your knowledge.
Before You Begin
Please complete the form carefully and accurately.
All information provided will be kept confidential.
You may submit recommendations for more than one student.
